Directions to Sunday's (10/26) games

I just received the directions. Here they are:

LIE to Exit 51 (Rte 231) north approx 2 miles to Jericho Tpke Rte 25 make right
Left (north) on Larkfield Rd (Sears on right)
Over RR tracks bear right on Vernon Valley Rd
Right on Rte 25A Fort Salonga Rd
First right on Middleville Rd school on left go to end of parking lot through gate up hill to field.

The games are at the Northport Middle School.

If the rain causes the games to be cancelled I will post it as soon as I receive it.

Update on 10/26 game

We are looking at changing the starting time to 11:30 am or noon so if there is rain the team can try to put the field in playing shape. Let me know ASAP if this causes a problem for anyone.

Sunday, October 26, 2008 Games

I finally have the information on Sunday's game. It is at the Northport Middle School and has a 10 AM start. It is against the Northport Tigers. The FABL web site does not have directions and I have called their coach for them. They will be posted as soon as I receive them. I will be calling the other manager on Saturday night and if necessary on Sunday morning to check the field conditions. If the game is cancelled it will be posted as soon as I receive the information.

Reminder and Update

A reminder that we have the batting cages tonight (10/23) at 8 PM. It is at Baseball Plus in Hicksville. I have not head yet where we are playing on Sunday. If I get the email before tonight I will let you know at the cages. If I do not receive it before tonight's practice I will post it here as soon as I get it.

October 19th Game

The games on Sunday, October 19, 2008 will be at the Sousa Elementary School against the Port Washington Vikings. The games will start at 2 PM. The directions are:

SOUSA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Long Island Expressway to Exit 36 (Searington Road). Go North on Searington, this becomes Port Washington Blvd. when you cross 25A. Continue on Port Washington Blvd. for approximately 2.5 miles (past St. Francis Hospital). When you have passed Nassau Knolls Cemetery on your left, go 4 lights and make a left on Main Street. Follow Main Street to Shore Road. Turn right on Shore Road to Cow Neck Road. School is on the corner of Sands Point Road and Cow Neck Road

Be there an hour before game time. Call Coach Ed at 516-581-5776 if you can not make the games.

Change in day for Indoor workout

The indoor workout for this week has been changed to Wednesday, October 15 at 8 PM. It will still be at Baseball Plus in Hicksville.

October 12, 2008 Game

We are playing the Linednhurst Nationals at Shore Rd. Field with a 10 AM start. The directions are:

SHORE ROAD ( LINDENHURST )
Southern State Parkway to Exit 35S ( Wellwood Ave ). Go through Village, cross over Montauk Highway (27A). Make a right onto Shore Road . Field is 2.5 blocks on left.

Players are to be at the field one hour before game time. If you can not make the game for any reason you must call Coach Ed at 516-581-5776.

Batting Cages

The Team has practice at the Baseball Plus Cages on Duffy Ave in Hicksville on Thursday, Oct. 9. The practice starts at 8 PM and will last an hour. The pitchers will be doing some throwing as well as hitting. You should bring $5 to help cover the cost of the cages.

Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008 Double Header

Our game this Sunday is on the 17/18 schedule. We play at 10 AM at the Shore Rd. Field in Lindenhurst. The Directions are:

Indoor workout

The Fall team will be starting their indoor workouts this Thursday. They will be at Baseball Plus in Hicksville and this one will start at 8 PM. Please bring $5 with you to help offset the cost of this workout. Any questions call Coach Gorman at 516-780-4538.

Update for Sunday, Sept. 28's Games

I have spoken again with the South Shore Bronco's manager and he says he will do everything he can to get the games in. He will check the field tonight and again tomorrow morning between 6:30 and 7 AM. He will call me at that time if we can not play. If I do not have a post here or you do not receive a call from me or Coach Ed the games are on. If the games are cancelled we will be going to the cages at Baseball Plus in Hicksville at 12 noon. Players are expected to bring $5 with them to help cover the cost of the cages. We are also down a catcher for the games so if you know of anyone who would like to play contact him to come down and let me know at 516-826-9889. If we do not have your cell number it might be a good idea for you to email it to me in case you are on your way to the games if we cancel.

I realized that I am a week behind on my posts for this weekend. The dates should be the 28th not the 21st. Sorry for any confusion.

If we do not play on Sunday we will be going to the batting cages at Baseball Plus in Hicksville (the same location as the last time) at either 12 or 1 PM for an hour to work on our hitting. Games for Sunday, September 21, 2008

The double header for Sunday is at the Harding Ave. Elementary School in Lindenhurst. It has a 9 AM start and we are playing the South Shore Broncos. Players are expected to be at the field an hour before the game. In view of the weather report for this weekend I have been in touch with the Broncos manager and he will let me know as soon as he can if the games are going to be played. Please check this blog before you go to the game on Sunday.

Schedule Correct

The schedule posted on the fabl.org web site is now correct for Sunday's double header.

FABL shedule is wrong

The game times and location on the FABL schedule are incorrect. I received a second email from the league giving the correct time and location for Sunday's games which is Burns Park at 3 PM.

Sept. 21 games

We will be playing the L.I. Braves on Sunday, September 21st with a 3 PM start. The games are at Burns Park which is located off of Merrick Road in Massapequa. Players should be there an hour before game time.

Sept. 14's games are on

I have spoken to the Frozen Rope's manager and the field is in good shape. The games are on.

Practices Postpones

The practices on Sunday, August 31, 2008 have been postponed.

Cooperstown Party

The get together for the players who went to Cooperstown will be on Sunday, August 24, 2008. It will be at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Wantagh (1869 Wantagh Ave.) and will start at 6:30 PM. T-shirts and some surprise items will be given out. Pizza and soda will be served. Any questions call Coach Gorman at 516-780-4538.

Coach Gorman's team has a playoff game tomorrow (August 19) at 5:30 PM at Mepham H.S.. Players should be there as close to 4:45 PM as possible. If a player can not make it they have to call 516-780-4538. Please note that the location for this game was changed to this field.

The game for Coach Gorman's team is still for tonight at Baldwin Park. The posting on the Ncyaa web site is incorrect.

The playoff game for Coach Gorman's team has be scheduled for tomorrow (August 13) at Baldwin Park with a 5:30 PM start. Players should be there at 4:45 or as close to that time as possible. If anyone can not make it they need to call 516-780-4538 as soon as possible.

As of 3 PM Tully's baseball field was was open to play. All players are expected to be at practice unless there is a new posting on this blog or they receive a phone call.

The date for the Mantle team's playoff game has been changed to Wednesday, August 13th. It will be against Storm Baseball Academy and will be at Seaman's Neck Park with a 8 PM start. Players should be at the field by 7:15 PM. Good Luck!

Sunday's, August 10th's practice has been postponed to Monday, August 11th. It will be at Tully Park with a 6 PM start.

The Newburgh Tournament team will be having practices on Sunday, August 10 and Thursday, August 14 at Tully Park. The practice on August 10 will start at 5 PM and on August 14 it will start at 6 PM. If any additional practices are scheduled they will be posted here. Players are expected to attend all practices.

There has been a change in the practice field on Friday, August 7, for the Newburgh Tournament team. It is still at Eisenhower Park but it is Field "A"not "B. It's the one by Hemptead Turnpike with the entrance off of Merrick Ave. just north of Hempstead Turnpike.

Congratulation's to the Mantle team on winning their playoff game. They now play on Thursday, August 7 th against Long Beach. The game is a 5:30 start at Long Beach H.S.. Players should be there at 4:45 PM. GOOD LUCK!!

The Hampton Inn in Middletown has 8 rooms with a King bed and sofa pullout. They have reserved them for the 17/18 tournament team. You need to call Coach Gorman if you want one of these rooms. Due to the number of late entry teams that have called over the last couple of days these are what they have let. Coach Gorman can be reached at 516-780-4538.

Coach Gorman's team has a game tomorrow, August 5, 2008 at Souch Broabway Complaex with a 6 PM start. They also have games on Thurday at Mepham H.S. with a 6 PM start.

The scrimmage game is still on for Sunday with a 10 AM start at Tully Park for the 17/18 year olds. Players should be there at 9:15.

Today's games and practice has been postponed due to the weather. You will be notified when they are rescheduled.

There is a possibility of a scrimmage game on Sunday, August 3, at Tully Park for the 17/18 Tournament team. It would have a 9 or 10 AM start. Players will be receiving an email tonight and need to reply to it ASAP to confirm that they can make it. Players can also call 516-826-9889 and leave a message. If a sufficient number of players confirm that they can make the game we will play.

The 17/18 year old team will be going to a tournament in Newburgh on August 15,16 & 17. The tournament is sponsored by Triple Crown Sports.They have a practice on Saturday, August 2nd at 5 PM at Tully Park. Any interested ballplayers who have not already signed up for this tournament should contact us at 516-780-4538 or be at the practice at 4:45 PM on Saturday. There are 4 open positions on the roster. Packets with the tournament details and practice schedules will be give to parents and ballplayers at the practice. Players are expected to be at all practices.


The Mantle playoff game has tentatively been reschedule for Tuesday, August 5th. Keep checking for updates.


We are currently taking registrations from current ballplayers for the Fall season. Details can be obtained by clicking on the Fact Sheet link on the left side of the home page. You can download the registration form and mail it and the fee to 3609 Southview Ave. Wantagh, N.Y. 11793. Once this is received you will be registered for the Fall.

FYI to all pitchers. Richard Dishman will be conducting his pitching clinic on Tuesday, July 29th at Tully Park. He will be there starting at 8 PM.

The Mantle team's game against the Seminoles can not be rescheduled due to the lack of time until the playoffs. The team is seeded 3rd in the consolation playoffs and will have a first round bye. They are scheduled to play on Saturday, August 2nd. Information will be posted as soon as it is received.

Coach Dasch's game AT 3:30 pm against the Seminole's team has been postponed due to the weather.

Coach Gorman has not received a call scheduling a game for Thursday so the team does not have one. They will play at Tully at 8:30 PM on the 26th.

Coach Gorman's team may have a game on Thursday night July 24th, with a 6 PM start. The league just called and wanted to know if we were available and they were told yes. He should get back to us by the practice tonight and the players and parents will be informed if there is a game.

Coach Gorman's games on Saturday, July 26th, have been changed by the league. His team now has one game at Tully with a 8:30 Start. Tonight's Clinic and practice are still on. If it changes due to weather conditions a notice will be posted here. Call 516-780-4538 if you have any questions.

Coach Gorman's team has a double header on Saturday, July 26th. It is at Salisbury Park with a 3 PM start. Player should be at the field at 2:15 PM.

The Connie Mack team (17/18) now has a double header tomorrow, July 19th with the first game starting at 9 AM. Players should be there at 8:15 AM. The game is at Valley Stream North H.S.

Coach Gorman's team has had a double header on Saturday, July 19 scheduled. It is a 9 AM start at Baldwin Park. Players should be there by 8:15.

Tomorrow's practice/pitching clinic with former Atlanta Brave pitcher Richard Dishman has been postponed due to a conflict with the field. Apparently both our organization and an organization based in North Hempstead were given the same time at Tully. They have decided to allow the Town Based group to use the field. I have confirmed with the Field Director that there are no other problems with the times we have been given. Call me at 516-780-4538 if you need any further information.

Coach Gorman's team has a double header scheduled for Saturday, July 12 at 10 AM at Baldwin Park. Players who have not confirmed their attendance should do so ASAP.

The South Shore Indians with a team composed of 9 players who are 14 through 17 year's old had a very successful trip to Cooperstown. They won the first game 5 -4 with a dramatic relay play from the outfield to home plate for the 3rd out in the seventh inning to get the win. This was after scoring the go ahead run in the bottom of the 6th. Against a 17 and 18 year old team they played a very competitive game before losing 7 -4. The coaches and players did us proud.

The July 2nd game for Coach Gorman's team has had its location changed to Salisbury Park. The park is located in East Meadow at the intersection of Caman Ave. and Salisbury Park Drive. The enterance is off of Salisbury Park Drive. Players should be there by 5 PM. The team has a double header scheduled for Sunday, July 6th, at Baldwin Park. Players should be there by 5 PM.
